In 1919, Mario Buccellati (1891-1965), the founder of the modern family tradition, took over the activity of his cousins and continued using his own name, opening his first store near the famous Teatro “La Scala”. He revived antique tools and handicraft traditions for the execution of his products and as his reputation grew and his name became one of the foremost in jewelry and silver design, he opened additional stores in Florence, Rome and New York.
Gianmaria has inherited the creative spirit that has brought him to conceive true masterworks and has launched his name worldwide. In addition, he has also developed the sales network by opening stores or corners in the most glamorous shopping districts including Costa Smeralda in Sardinia, Paris, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Hong Kong, Milan, Los Angeles, Aspen, London, Moscow.
Unlike all firms that rely on hired designers and on the work of contract craftsmen, the House of Buccellati preserves the tradition of the Italian “bottega”, where Gianmaria and his son Andrea conceive and create their own designs, handcrafted in their own workshops by highly skilled artisans.
Andrea Buccellati represents the third generation and the future of the Group. Besides designing along with his father, he overviews the production of all jewelry and has recently been appointed President and CEO of the Usa based entities and Managing Director of Buccellati Holding Italia SpA.
The Buccellati Group is still a family enterprise with various members of the family assisting Gianmaria Buccellati: his wife Rosie, in the commercial sector; Gino, the eldest son, manages the silver factory; Maria Cristina, the youngest, is in charge of marketing and communication.
